Frequently Asked Questions

Q.What makes Big Island Live different from a typical event rental company?
A.
Most live event production needs two things: power and data. We've built our entire system around sourcing both without any fixed infrastructure. We run on EcoFlow solar battery systems for power and Starlink for data and live streaming. As long as we have a clear line of sight to the sky, we can produce a full event — anywhere.
Q.Do you need a generator or power hookup to run an event?
A.
No. Our gear runs entirely on solar-charged battery power, so we don't need an outlet, a generator, or a fuel source of any kind. We can comfortably power a 4-hour event for up to 50 guests on stored solar power alone — sound, lighting, and streaming included.
Q.What if the event location doesn't have internet or cell service?
A.That's not a problem for us. We stream live content direct from satellite using Starlink, so we're not relying on local WiFi or cell towers. Whether you're on a remote beach, up in the forest, or off the grid entirely, we can still broadcast your event live.
Q.Can you set up anywhere on the island, even off-grid locations?
A.Yes — that's actually where we shine. Because we're not tied to a power outlet or a hardwired internet connection, location is genuinely up to you. No cables to run, no generator to haul in, no site survey for utility access. If you can get there, we can set up there.
Q.Does going off-grid cost more?
A.
Actually, it tends to cost less. Traditional productions often need generator rentals, fuel, extra labor for cabling, and sometimes a site survey for power and internet access. Our solar and satellite setup removes most of that overhead, which keeps costs down and simplifies planning for you.
Q.What's the environmental impact of your events?
A.Essentially zero. Since we run on solar battery power instead of gas generators, there's no fuel burned, no exhaust, and no noise pollution from engine equipment. It's a quieter, cleaner way to produce a live event — which matters a lot here on the island.
Q.How long can you run an event on solar power alone?
A.Our solar battery systems are built to comfortably cover a full 4-hour event for groups of up to 50 people. For larger groups or longer events, just let us know the details when you book and we'll make sure the system is sized right for your event.
Q.Is there anywhere you can't set up?
A.
The main requirement is a clear line of sight to the sky for our Starlink connection — dense tree cover or being fully indoors without a nearby open area can limit that. Outside of that, our off-grid setup gives you far more flexibility on location than a traditional production would.
Q.What if we need to cancel?
A.Please check out our policies page for details.
Q.Do you require a deposit?
A.Yes all orders require a 50% deposit
